Manchester Literature Festival is one of the biggest and best urban literature festivals in the UK. It comes up with unique, creative ways to showcase the very best in contemporary writing from across the world. Most literature events tend to attract an audience of 50+ women, but MLF is decidedly different. It reaches out to new people — sponsors, funders and audiences — who perhaps don’t think literature is for them.
Built around the idea of ‘pioneering writers’, the 2018 identity takes a leaf from the visual distortions created by the edges of book pages. This ‘edgy’ graphic language is used in typographic and illustrative treatments applied to a range of marketing materials. These include outdoor media, event brochures, postcards, leaflets and sponsor targeted media packs.
