Rebuilding the image of a rundown industrial suburb

Often referred to as the world’s first industrial suburb, Ancoats is one of Manchester’s key areas for regeneration. As part of a multi-million pound investment programme aimed at enticing businesses and residential incomers, a powerful and flexible identity was needed. An exploratory tour of the neighbourhood gave us the spark of a creative idea: an identity and visual language echoing the distinctive architecture of the area, with its impressive square-windowed mill buildings.
