Sometimes the best ideas really are scribbled on the back of an envelope

For our fifth consecutive year working for Manchester Literature Festival, we decided to focus our campaign on the creative process of writing. We asked each featured author to submit an example
of their "work in progress" - notes, sketches, lists of character names, ideas scrawled on the back of an envelope, working titles and plot outlines. Piece by piece, we built
up a fascinating mini-archive, which we deployed across the various items in our campaign, providing festival-goers with a powerful insight into the workings of the literary mind.
